Arrival & Transportation

Arrival & Transportation

Wherever you choose to stay, you will be arriving into Fiumicino or Ciampino Airport.  Below, we have outlined the different options for getting from each airport to either the centre of Rome or the centre of Frascati.

The thrill seekers amongst you will be aware that the most adrenalin-pumping method to get around Italy is in your own car. It is really easy to rent a car for the duration of your stay from the airport.

Don’t be concerned about remembering which side of the road to be on when driving, as most Italians choose to point their automobiles right down the middle.

But, if you’re not feeling brave…

Staying in Frascati

Taxis

To and from Frascati are, as a rough guide: €60 for Fiumicino and €45 from Ciampino depending upon number of passengers and luggage. WARNING: always use "official" white or yellow taxi with the "taxi" sign on the car to avoid any unnecessary surcharge. If you arrive in the evening we suggest the use of a taxi.

 From Fiumicino:

If you are coming from Fiumicino and, again, want to avoid a cab fare, Frascati is easily reached by train from Rome’s Termini railway station.  Go to the railway station located in front of the upper level of the terminal and take the non-stop train "Leonardo da Vinci" to the ROMA-TERMINI Station. Fare is about 14 euros and tickets are available at the airport station.Departures are scheduled from 6.36 to 23.36. Or catch a "TERRAVISION" bus for Roma Termini station, fare is 4 Euros: www.terravision.eu/rome_fiumicino.html

From "Roma Termini" to Frascati: take the train Roma - Frascati . The journey takes about 30 minutes. The. Tickets are available at tobacconist's shops and newspapers kiosk and cost 2.10 Euro. For timetables, check the website of the Italian official railway system: http://www.trenitalia.com

The Rome – Frascati line runs once an hour on Monday-Saturday and once every two hours on Sundays. The endearingly rickety ride, complete with beautiful scenery, takes just 25 minutes and lands you right in the centre of Frascati. From there, you will be walking distance or a short cab ride away from all the accommodation, restaurants and amenities we have listed on the blog.

From Ciampino:

Ciampino Airport is a five minute bus or taxi ride from the Ciampino railway station which is a stop on the Rome-Frascati line. From Ciampino Airport "Giovan Battista Pastine" take a bus (Schiaffini Travel or COTRAL) to reach the Ciampino Railway Station (tickets cost approx. 1.50 Euro) and from Ciampino Railway Station take a train to Frascati. For timetables, check the website of the Italian official railway system: http://www.trenitalia.com

Alternatively, Frascati can be reached by taking Rome’s Metropolitana underground A line to the Anagnina station and then switching to the Frascati bus.

Travelling by Car:

Take the ring highway "Grande Raccordo Anulare", Exit 21-22, then the state highway "Tuscolana" to Frascati. Once in Frascati you will find road signs that will lead you to Park Hotel Villa Grazioli”

If you prefer to book a private limo service, contact Villa Grazioli directly for rates:

Staying in Rome

Taxis to and from Rome have a flat fee: €40 from Fiumicino and €30 from Ciampino.

From Fiumicino: If you’d prefer not to take a taxi, Rome’s central Termini railway station is connected to Fiumicino Airport via the non-stop Leonardo Express which takes 30 minutes and costs €11.  Services begin 6:37am and leave every half hour until 11:37pm daily.

From Ciampino: There is no direct public transport between Ciampino and Rome. If you are travelling with easyJet or Ryanair, the best thing to do is take a Terravision shuttle to Termini. These shuttles leave half an hour after each arrival and cost around €8 single and €14 return. www.terravision.eu/rome_fiumicino.html.
